Voor achter uit / a dream about complete knowledge
A4 drawing & print for ILYA PRIGOGINE IN COLOUR, Ghent (BE), Public, Participatory Group Exhibition + publication 2014
Taking as a point of departure Prigogines theory engaging the irreversability of time, a series of filmstills featuring a girl making a sign of the cross forms the base of my contribution for this project. It provokes thought on the meta-image of the gesture and the passing of time, this both in a reference to the medium of the moving image as to the youth of the subject.
The extra feature of the print, the fact that it can be transformed into a cube or dice, emphasises the factor of play of the participatory project and touches on the idea of coincidence.
More than 50 contemporary, belgian artists have produced over 70 different colouring pages, inspired by the work and the person of ILYA Prigogine, belgian nobel prize winner in Chemistry in 1977.
During a public intervention, these colouring pages are made available to the public at large. Anyone can come and participate in the completion of the work as well as decide how to show case them in a public venue in Ghent, Belgium.
The public intervention is part of an artistic festival that will run from 19.7-26.7.2014 initiated by Ben Benaouisse & NOVGOROD vzw.
